- 1/4 #cabbage, chopped
- 1 #potato, peeled and grated
- 1 small bunch #cilantro (about 2 cups)
- 1 lime
- 4 cloves garlic
Proteins
- 1 medium-firm or firm #tofu (450g)
- 1 egg (optional)
Dairy
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup mayo (or Greek yogurt / vegan mayo)
Pantry & Dry Goods
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- Oil for pan-frying
Spices & Seasonings
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper
🔪 Instructions
- In a bowl, add chopped cabbage, grated potato, tofu, egg, cheese, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper. Massage well while breaking apart the tofu. You want a paste-like consistency.
- Using your hands, form the mixture into patties (about 3-4 tablespoons per patty).
- Drizzle oil in a pan and heat to medium. Once hot, add the patties and pan-fry for 4-5 minutes on each side until crispy and golden brown.
- For the sauce, blend cilantro, lime juice, garlic, and mayo until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Drizzle the sauce on top of the patties and serve.
📝 Notes
- Use medium-firm or firm tofu for best results. Optionally press the tofu first to remove excess moisture.
- Can also bake in oven or air fryer at 375F for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Great as a burger patty or on top of salads.
